Queen Victoria New Zealand 1863-5, and an Indian Mutiny medal 1857-8, to 2453 Wm Oakley, 70th Reg., East Surrey Regt., no ribbons, sold with parchment certificate confirming medals and 21 years service. William Oaklry became a Chelsea PensionerCertificate says that when he was promoted he was in posession of a good conduct badge and that if he had not been promoted he would have been in posession of four good conduct badges. It does not mention any medals.

The Martin Brothers 5 typescripts, some with ms. additions for his article The Martin Brothers, Studio Potters of London and Southall, Middlesex, in Apollo magazine; and another inscribed part II, part ms; together with an ms letter from Marsh to the editor of Apollo regarding the articles and hoping that his exceeding both the word count and the number of illustrations will be tolerated. Typescript with ms additions for his lecture on the Martins at the Central Library, Fulham, May 9th 1929. Ms In pencil on the Martins. Ms in pencil, seemingly a draft for an article or autobiography on Marsh's relationship with the Martins including the description of a firing (includes a pencil washing list!). A rare Martin Brothers printed and folded Brochure with quotes from magazines about their work: '… it is no exaggeration to say that no more interesting and, in its own line, superior pottery has ever been turned out in England'. A Brochure, also rare, with a three page article by Sidney Greenslade (the brothers' patron), the slate-grey cover with a photograph of the brothers in their studio. A fascinating four-page autograph, signed, letter to Marsh from Cobwebs - West Hoathley - Sussex, 22.2.43, which touches on, inter alia, the war and her fear of not getting a job when it ends, apologising for only having five photographs left of her work for Marsh's Apollo article and pleading for them back, not having made pots for six years and being refused a licence by the Board of Trade to make more; a meeting with W.B.Honey at the V&A, her cv and more; together with: a five-page letter to Marsh (numbered x-3) from Katherine PBouverie (so signed)The Mill, Coleshill, Swindon, Wilts, Jan. 19.43, regarding Marsh's article for Apollo and mentioning her year with Bernard Leach at St Ives in 1924, followed by Norah Braden; a three page Autograph Letter to Marsh from Katherine PBouverie, dated Jan. 31.43 largely about the same article and photographs, s.a.e.;together with Miss K.Pleydell-Bouverie and Miss D.K.N. Braden, Studio Potters of Coleshill, Wiltshire, ink four-page ms, apparently an early (first?) draft for his article, together with a typed, seven-page article (three copies) one inscribed by Marsh in pencil 'First Draft', presumably from the ms. Interestingly, Marsh sets out on page one in confident style, but by the end is making numerous crossings-out, substitutions and marginalia. 'A Short Talk on Modern Pottery' six-page ink ms draft (first?) with numerous corrections, together with two eight-page, typed copies. The Fremlington Pottery 1889, typescript, five pages, 2 copies. Derrick Latimer Sayer (1917-1992), 'UNIVERSITY OF NATIVE PLEASURE' Signed, inscribed with title and dated '67, mixed media 75 x 50cm; and two others by the same hand, mixed media 57 x 41cm (3) Born in 1917, Derrick Sayer trained at Chelsea School of Art under the aegis of Henry Moore and Graham Sutherland. This was followed by a period at Ben Nicholson's studio in Paris. With the same spirit of co-operative idealism as Nicholson and the St. Ives Group, Sayer founded the Mousehole Group Art School in 1936 in collaboration with George Lamborn and Guy Allen. Sadly, this venture was short-lived, but provided a perfect start that served him well as he put his graphic talent to excellent use for major advertising campaigns, record covers and book illustrations. During the time that he was producing commercial work, he showed with a variety of galleries including the Redfern, Leicester and Storran galleries, receiving thoughtful critical attention.

The following five lots are from the Estate of the Late Mary Lambert, British 1923-2013 Mary Lambert was christened Doreen Lambert and used the name Mary from about 1965. Mary's first job after leaving the Mount School in York was with the Civil Service making maps in the Air Ministry department. In 1944 Mary started attending evening classes at the York School of Art and during this time she exhibited a sculpted head of a fellow student, for which she gained much acclaim. Mary achieved a National Diploma in Painting, a Diploma in ceramics (both from Chelsea College of Art) a Diploma in Ceramics from Goldsmith's College, An ATD Teaching Diploma from London University. She was a teacher for 10 years at Hammersmith College of Art and 3 years at Willesden Polytechnic as well as the previous years at Isleworth Polytechnic which became Hounslow Borough College. Whilst at the Chelsea College of Art, she met many well-known artists including Victor Pasmore, Henry Moore and Mervyn Peake among others. She was great friends with John and June Berry, Ruth and Ian Auld, Steven and Jean Sykes and Erasmos Fernandez whom she was taught by. Purchased from River Gallery Chelsea MI2001. Many of her items are in prominent collections e.g. Ford Motor Co., Minneapolis Museum, University of Michigan, Corcoran Museum, etc.
A Chelsea Derby porcelain figure of a lady, circa 1769-84, modelled standing wearing a colourful dress beside an open wicker hamper, resting on a flower encrusted stump with pug at her feet, on a Rococo scroll moulded base picked out in gilt and green, height approx 22cm (some restoration and chips).
