A FINE AND RARE .700 CALIBRE TURKISH MIQUELET-LOCK RIFLE OF EXCEPTIONAL SIZE, FIRST HALF OF THE 18TH CENTURY with very heavy slightly swamped octagonal barrel rifled with seven grooves and retained by a single slender brass band, the muzzle fitted with blade fore-sight and decorated with a broad panel of gold-encrusted foliage and flowerheads within a ropework frame, the breech with a further panel of gold-encrusted foliage and differing flowerheads including a stylised vase in the centre, large arch-shaped back-sight pierced with eleven apertures and encrusted with gold over its entire surface en suite with the breech, the tang overlaid with a brass panel engraved with foliage, steel lock of characteristic form encrusted with gold foliage and beadwork on the lock-plate, cock, bridle and steel, steel button trigger, figured walnut full stock applied with brass plaques pierced with foliage beneath the muzzle, breech and opposite the lock, faceted butt applied with further plaquettes divided by a solid band of fluted brass in the centre and at the base (small losses, the butt-cap missing), bone fore-end cap, and remaining in fine condition throughout (later ramrod) 104.2cm; 41in barrel Provenance Jacques Arlaud, St Ouen, 1958 Exhibited Splendeurs de l'Art Turc, no. 75
An Early Russian Polychrome Triptych. The centre panel carved in deep relief with the crucifixion in a recessed arch and the gilt ground painted with saints; 15 ins (38 cms) x 9 ins (23 cms). The smaller side panels carved with figures retaining much of the residual paint-work and measuring 15 ins x 4½ ins (38 cms x 10.5 cms).
A Fine 17th Century Boarded Oak Coffer. The plank lid having chipped engrailing to the ends with run moulding to the front and back. The front with conforming chip carved ends standing on high lancet arch cut end boards; one carved with the initials RB, 37½ ins (95 cms) wide, 13¾ ins (35 cms) deep, and 23½ ins (60 cms) high.
A Rare Early 18th Century Ash & Elm Lambing Chair. The cresting rail having three small humps above an arch-topped centre panel flanked by plain uprights with hooked terminals. The silhouette cut down-swept arms with scroll ends on turned posts leading to a plank seat with edge moulded base drawer above a triple humped seat rail. Standing on low baluster turned legs with square feet united by peripheral stretchers.
An 18th Century Joined Oak Welsh Dresser. The rack having a moulded canopy top with turned pendant finials to the front corners overhanging two planked back shelves with through tenon joints piercing the shaped side boards. The base cupboard having two ogee-arch topped fielded panel doors standing on low stile feet with applied moulding to the edge, 48 ins (122 cms) wide, 21 ins (53 cms) deep and 73 ins (186 cms) high.
An Impressive 16th Century Coffer. The plank top with moulded edge having a punch-work crown and the inscription I.N.R.I. at the lower right hand corner. The panelled front carved with Gothic tracery arches & ball flowers and having an iron hasp & lock-plate above a small chip carved arch and scalloped base rail, Standing on stile supports. 34 ins (86 cms) high, 57 ins (145 cms) wide, 25 ins (64 cms) deep.
A Fine & Unusual Section of 16th Century Oak Room Panelling; circa 1540. The top section centred by a rare carved head & shoulder portrait of a Court Jester, projecting boldly from the surface of the panel beneath an arch window & foliate columns; depicted wearing a headdress with pointed ears and a face of character. The flanking four panels depicting head & shoulder profile portraits of stylized representations of anonymous men & women applied in partial relief within roundel's and beneath arches; all having flower head spandrels. The lower section having five well-carved linen-fold panels and measuring 36 ins (91 cms) x 61 ins (155 cms). Comparative examples in V. Chinnery; Oak Furniture, The British Tradition; 1979 [Provenance: Ex Vernon Family].
A Burr Elm Longcase Clock with Eight Day Movement. The 12 inch (30 cm) square silvered dial signed Robert Mathison Edinburgh with engraved foliate sprays to the corners. The caddy top hood surmounted by three brass spired globe finials above a fretted frieze band and integral Doric columns flanking the dial. The unusual burr figured case with cross-banded borders and ebonised lip moulding to the break-arch trunk door and moulded base with bracket feet, 98 ins (250 cms) overall in height.
An 18th Century Oak 'Rocking Ship' Longcase Clock with eight day movement. The 12 inch (30 cm) painted dial incorporating a calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial to the centre with sprays of flowers adorning the corners. The arch painted with a castle seascape housing the painted rocking ship aperture. The hood with swan neck split pediment centred by a brass urn finial above the arched door flanked by reeded columns. The case having a shaped trunk door; inlaid with a marquetry star burst and flanked by fluted quadrant columns. 88 ins (224 cms) high, 18 ins (46 cms) wide, 10½ ins (27 cms) deep. The movement overhauled and in working order.
A 17th Century Two Door Oak Buffet. The plank top above a lunette carved frieze. The front panel centred by a diamond; carved with leaves beneath a foliated arch with fluted columns. The two cupboard doors on butterfly hinges carved with horizontal diamonds ornamented with punch-work stars. The nulled and gadrooned frieze above rising baluster turned legs to the front and palmate stiles to the rear leading down to an open base shelf carved with s-scrolls along the sides. 43¼ ins (110 cms) high, 51½ ins (131 cms) wide, 23¼ ins (59 cms) in depth.
A 17th Century Oak Wainscot Armchair. The top rail carved with lunettes above the ornate back panel carved with an arch formed from foliated panels and centred by a rosette. The rum moulded uprights adjoining the down swept arms raised on column supports. The seat above run-moulded rails and the column turned legs joined by block stretchers.

An early 20th Century German quarter-chiming bracket clock, the arched mahogany case supported on brass base ogee bracket feet, the movement with Westminster chimes on the quarter on four gongs via a pinned cylinder, a fifth gong striking on the hour, the silvered Arabic dial having chime/silent and slow/fast subsidiary dials to the arch. Height 37.5 cms.
