A LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY CARVED OAK, WESTMINSTER CHIME, EIGHT-DAY LONG CASE CLOCK by S Smith & Sons, The Strand, London, having an arch glazed hood door with craved foliate surmount, the oblong trunk door, panelled base and plinth all carved in high relief with various foliate elements, the arch of the dial having a rolling moon phase dial painted with scenes over two hemispheres and two chime setting dials, the silvered chapter ring with gilt Arabic hours and subsidiary seconds dial, winding holes and plaque bearing the maker~ name, all within applied brass spandrels. 23cm(h) Damaged dial movement loose, broken glass and some depletions to hoods raised moulding viewing advised.
A VICTORIAN GOTHIC OAK CHAIR having a pointed Gothic arch surmount with central pierced trefoil design between fruiting oak branches, the arched needlework padded back decorated with a knight under a triple arched doorway, the padded seat raised on substantial tapering square section legs with arched decoration, on tapering block feet. 129cm(h) Surmounts central finial depleted, finials possible associated, fading to needlework back with some wear, seat requires re-covering, marks scratches , edge knocks etc.
A 17TH CENTURY CARVED OAK COFFER having an oblong triple panel top with incised detail, ring-form hinges, paper lined internal storage and frieze carved with scrolling serpents, the three panels below each carved with arch and foliate design, the dividing muntins carved with a palmate design, the ends capped with a shield device carved with initials ISI, the other with date 640, the base rail carved with lunettes, the ends extending as feet. 74cm(h) x 137cm(w) x 61cm(d) Condition commensurate with age and use, the two shield devices are applied and may suggest a later date of construction, iron strap strengthening to underside, viewing advised.
