An early 18th century brass lantern clock, the movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell, the 6½-inch circular dial engraved with foliate scrolls, the chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and signed 'Smorthwait in Colchester', the case of typical form with domed bell surmount and turned finial above pierced and engraved fret panels, the turned side columns with hinged side panels, on turned ball feet, height 39cm, with pendulum and later painted wood wall bracket. Provenance: restored by Cloud & Shapland, London, in 1889 and at West Dean College in 1995. Note: John Smorthwait (1675-1739) is a recorded clockmaker working in Colchester from about 1712 to his death in 1739. He was one of Colchester's earliest clockmakers and by far the most prolific.
A late 19th century German walnut cased mantel clock by Junghans, with eight day movement striking on a gong, the case with turned finials and columns, height 45.5cm, with pendulum, together with a brass lantern style timepiece with French movement, height 25cm, and a pottery cased mantel clock with Ansonia Clock Co movement, height 33.7cm, with pendulum.
Jourdain, Jules (Belgian, 1873-1957); b. Namur, and Fisch & Cie (Brussels, 1853-present) BELGIUM, Sainte Gudule, 1931, a bronze medal by J. Jourdain for Fisch on behalf of Les Amis de la médaille d’art, robed female bust right, lantern behind, rev. Gudule at prayer in front of the body of Christ, winged figure behind spearing a manticore on the ground, edge impressed fisch & cie, 70mm, 119.38g (cf. Möller 78, 1302). Extremely fine £30-£40 --- Provenance: bt Simmons, June 2014 Saint Gudule (†712) is the patron saint of Brussels.
A GEORGE II GILT TOLE HALL LANTERN probably circa 1750, the square body with four glass panels with arched tops, the moulded tole frame retaining traces of the original gilt and red paint, the shaped top incorporating a circular glass shade beneath a gilt crown finial, with later fittings for electricity including the later chain, 42cm high and the panels 29.5cm wideThis hall lantern is wired for electricity and must be removed at the Buyer's risk and expense.

Netherlands, Hooijkaas / Stout / Lesener, second half of the 20th century, hallmarks: various hallmarks - minimal signs of wear. 71 grams, 925/1000 and 835/1000. A BRASS HALL LANTERN 19TH CENTURY With pierced acroteria and flowerhead cresting above knopped cluster columns around circular body 40cm high, 28cm wide Condition Report: Wear, marks, knocks and scratches as per age, handling, use, and cleaning. A pair of late 19th century painted wrought iron castle / stately home wall corner pedestal lantern lights. Each having a shaped top with scrolled finials atop over window shaped sides. Raised on twisted supports with scrolled motifs throughout. Raised on splayed supports to be fixed to a gate pedestal entrance. Each measuring approx. 95cm x 27cm x 27cm.
