Campbell thanks his correspondent for their letter and remarks 'I should be obliged if, when the time draws nearer, you would write me again and let me know whether I should wear an ordinary lounge suit, dinner jacket, or tails when delivering this lecture at Southport. I should also be glad to know whether you have a lantern, and/or a cinematograph projector. I have a very large number of slides, and some interesting films which I could bring along with me if you are able to make use of them', and concludes by asking for the name and address of the best hotel in Southport so that he can make arrangements for his accommodation.
