An early 20th century mantel clock in the form of a lantern clock, with brass 10.4cm. Roman dial, the case with twin dolphin surmount and polished steel bell, baluster finial, raised on toupie feet, the twin train movement with platform escapement, striking the hours and half hours on a gong, 9in. (22.75cm.) high, with key. * Condition: Winds and runs. Currently not chiming correctly - requires adjustment. Case very good.
Society of Upholsterers. The IId. Edition of Genteel Houshold Furniture, In the Present Taste with an addition of several Articles never before Executed, by a Society of Upholsterers, Cabinet-Makers, &c. Containing Upwards of 350 Designs on 120 Plates ... printed for Robt. Sayer, [1765], engraved title-page and 120 copper engraved plates, very occasional spotting or toning, sprinkled edges, modern half calf gilt, spine a little rubbed, 8vo (Qty: 1)ESTC N64868 (four parts bound in one, 120 plates). Containing designs for a variety of domestic furniture, including firegrates and irons, with titles such as: 'Chinese Hall Lantern'; 'Commode Cloaths Press'; 'Toillets'; 'Frats for Frizes &c.'; 'Standard Sign Iron'; 'French Back Stools'; 'Ornamented Bed-posts'; 'Stair Case Lights'; 'Lady's Desk'; 'Linnen Chests'; 'Gothic Chairs'; 'Obelisks for Lamps &c.'; 'Girondoles'. There appears to be several issues of this rare 18th century pattern book which was first published in 1760 with 60 plates. Little appears to be known about the Society, but it is thought to have been a group of the most fashionable furniture makers and designers in London. Robert Manwaring probably contributed most of the chair designs (the first 28 plates were reprinted in his Chair-Makers Guide in 1766). Other designs have been attributed to Thomas Johnson, William Ince and John Mayhew, Thomas Chippendale, Matthias Lock and Matthias Darley.

A Large Late 19th Century Copper Lantern, The conical top with hooded air-vents surmounted by a pierced lead crown of crenulated towers and brickwork. The slightly tapered cylindrical body with four bowed clear glass panels in a moulded frame incorporating a door below a decorative band of anthemion motifs and scrolls, 29" (74 cm) high.
An 18th Century Thirty Hour Brass Lantern Clock Circa 1720. The centre engraved with maker's name Jean du Lierre à Angers amongst scrolls of foliage with a burnished steel hand and 6¼" (16 cm) diameter chapter ring painted with Roman numerals. The top surmounted by pierced scrolling pediment pieces cast with dolphins centred by a domed bell, 14½ ins (37 cms) in height.
A Late 19th/Early 20th Century Birch Wood Bowl of plain hemispherical shape with flat base and a matching spoon with shallow round bowl and single 'lantern' terminal containing a captive ball. The bowl 2¾" (7.2 cm) high, 5½" (14.2 cm) in diameter, the spoon 7â…ž" (19.7 cm) in length. Also a pole lathe turned burr birch squat cylindrical box with double ogee sides tapering to a narrow plain foot rim, the top with a single incised line around the opening and a tightly fitting shallow domed lid with double incised band and a small mushroom knop finial to the centre, 2¾" (6.8 cm) high, 4â…œ" (11 cm) in diameter. Also a coconut shell bowl with enamelled interior, 5½" (14 cm) in diameter.
