A Good 18th Century Pierced Sheet Brass Lantern with repoussé decoration. The cylindrical body with leaded glass sides in a framework of punchwork decorated straps, incorporating a hinged door opening to access the three iron candles sockets on drip pans. The domed pediment surmounted by a hanging ring, pierced and embossed with emperors' head portrait medallions amongst garlands of fruit and foliage. The base with further decoration raised on three finialed ball feet 24 ins (61 cms) high.
A Victorian mahogany and brass mounted magic lantern, by Sands Hunter & Co., of London, base length 18", height including chimney 20", together with a collection of magic lantern slides including 10 wooden framed moving images, 7 hand painted wood framed John Gilpin scenes and 2 other boxes of magic lantern slides.
