Group of 31 magic lantern slide plates glass negatives with exceptional details and a rich tonal range. Subjects include: Ellis Island immigrants, a trading post in Belgian Congo, hoeing rice in South Carolina, an old slave market in St-Augustine, musical notes and their color intensities, eccentric handwriting and finger prints, the National Bank receipts with requests from returning soldiers to borrow money, and other subjects. Five plates are damaged with clean breaks in glass. Each glass plate average dimensions: 4"H x 3.25"W. Royal Naval Division RND WW1 Chaplain's badge c. 1918. A good scarce die-stamped bronzed seeded circlet surmounted by a Naval crown, the Cross resting in the legend CHAPLAIN ROYAL NAVY. Reverse numbered 264. Blades. Left facing side lantern bent otherwise VGC Also worn by Royal Navy Chaplains until 1923.
17th century style brass hook and spike lantern clock, having Roman chapter ring to the face marked 'Thos' Moore, Ipswich'. Single weight with long pendulum. 37cm high approx.
