A Victorian mahogany-mounted hand painted rack and pinion magic lantern slide, late 19th century, the crank operated rotating glass plate painted with twelve grotesque and comical faces which can be superimposed over the central seated figure, the slide 18cm x 11.3cm CONDITION REPORT:The rack and pinion mechanism is functional and appears to work smoothly. The wooden slide frame shows evidence of repair along the line of the rotating handle, and also shows some staining and variation in colour to the wood. The glass plates show surface wear and fine scratching commensurate with age and use.

H33cm Condition Report: Numerous cracks to the lead work on the underside of the piece, most noticeable in the corners. Possible signs of an old repair. Glass appears to be in good condition overall, with marks and wear in place commensurate with age and previous use.
