A late 19th century Staffordshire figure group of two toppers, height 21cm, with four glass fishing floats, a Bretby model of a cat, a Royal Doutlon flow blue loving cup, a silver mounted glass jug and a French glass vase (9).Additional InformationThe Staffordshire group is damaged; the arm of the figure in the red cloak, the hand where it joins the lantern and the lantern where is joins the knee of the figure have all been broken at these three points. General rubbing to the enamels throughout. The four glass floats with some light surface scratches but otherwise OK. The silver mounted jug is tarnished with many small knocks and scratches to the silver rim. The loving cup is finely crazed throughout and does not ring true. The Bretby cat has an old chip to one ear which has been coloured in, rubbing and some nibbles throughout. The glass vase with wear and scratches commensurate with age.

English brass lantern clock, of squared shape with domed top, strapwork turned brass finial over a circular brass face with inked Roman dial, engraved Isaac Hurst having both spear head and foliate decorative engraving, clean fusee movement, supported on baluster feet, approx 26 h x 15 x 15 cms. Note: appears to be over wound, does chime when revolving hands.

Twenty five 19th century mahogany framed coloured magic lantern slides of Polar Exploration interest, including whaling scenes, mostly 12 x 19 cm, contained in 19th century mahogany two handled box, sold together with a set of 35 coloured slides relating to "The Great Ice Age", mostly prepared by E.G. Wood, Cheapside London, contained in pine case (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The coloured magic lantern slides are generally in a good condition although a couple are cracked and there is some damage to some of the wooden mounts. the other box of slides are generally in good order.

One hundred and thirty late Victorian/early 20th century magic lantern slides of volcanic interest, including a photographic slide entitled "Kingston, A Search Party Arriving". Each 8 cm2, contained in three stained wood cases. NOTE: The photographic slide is thought to relate to 14th January 1907 Kingston Jamaica earthquake which registered 6.2 on the Moment Magnitude scale and is described by the United States Geological Survey as one of the worlds deadliest earthquakes recorded in history (see illustration).

Each 8 cm2, contained in two stained pine cases. CONDITION REPORT: Some of the Chaos of Man slides are cracked but mostly appear to be in a good overall condition.

Three 19th century magic lanterns, 46, 40 and 40 cm high respectively, two converted to electricity. CONDITION REPORT: All three magic lanterns are a little tired, hence the estimate. The tinplate and brasswork to the electrified one is rusty and tarnished. The focus mechanism appears to work, we have not tested the item. The wooden framed lantern is again rusty on the tinplate parts and the brasswork is tarnished. The focusing mechanism appears to work. The third lantern is also rusty and the brasswork badly tarnished. The mahogany is also very dirty, stained and marked. The focusing mechanism appears to work. The end lens cap is missing. There maybe other pieces missing on the other two lanterns it is difficult to tell.

An 20th century Archer and Sons of Liverpool brass and tin plate magic lantern, 39 cm long, contained in ebonised metal case. CONDITION REPORT: The brasswork to this lantern is in good condition. The focus mechanism runs smoothly. The metal cabinet has some scuffs and dents but is in generally good condition. The lens appears clean. The lantern appears to be complete as far as we can tell. The lantern has been electrified and there is a hole in the back plate, presumably to house the light fitting.

A CLOISONNE ENAMEL LANTERN VASE, JIAQINGChina, 1796-1820. The vessel is of the distinct 'lantern' shape decorated around the main body with elaborate lotus scrolls amid smaller blossoms, leaves and vines, all on a deep turquoise-blue ground characteristic of the period. The waisted neck and foot are similarly decorated. The bronze base, foot rim, lip and edges show a massive fire-gilding. Provenance: From an old French private collection. Condition: Absolutely original condition with no restoration or fillings whatsoever. Some firing irregularities and microscopic pitting. Some losses to enamels along the edges, the foot rim and lip with dents and minor warping. Old wear, especially to gilding.
