The image of Isis nursing the infant Horus was one that displayed the maternal and protective power of the goddess. The right hand is pointing down in the Bhumisparsha, or Earth touching pose, whilst the left hand is in the Samadhi, or meditation pose. Acquired on the London art market before 1995. Known as Bhaisajyaguru, this is the Buddha as the healer of both physical and mental ailments. Images of the medicine Buddha are the same as the historical Buddha but are shown holding a bowl which contains the healing myrobalan plant. Acquired on the London art market before 1995.
