Three beautifully carved jadeite ornaments rapresenting Chinese mythical beasts; a grey colored jade, mostly used to reject negative influences depicting a "dragon turtle" (??, Lónggu?) symbolizing courage and determination; a light brown jade carved into a "foo dog" or dragon dog, used as a protection from harmful influences; a brown colored figurine of a tiger, also known as "the king of all beasts", it rapresent powerful energy, the spirit and drive to achieve and make progress. Ca.100-300 AD(Ancient Region of Gandhara; Modern day Pakistan, Afghanistan) An attractive bronze figurine of Shakyamuni Buddha, seated on a lotus position; the hands on the bhumisparsha mudra, with its right hand resting on its knee and fingers pointing towards the earth. The face is showing a quiet and serene expression; the eyelids are lowered as if in meditation , the ears are large and the earlobes elongated; its hair showing the charateristic snail-shell curls. Good Condition; Size:155mm;544g; Provenance: Important estate collection from Oxfordshire; formed in the 1970s-2000.
Ca. 20th C or earlier/Qing style. This white porcelain figurine shows the bodhisattva of compassion, seated with the right knee raised and the left leg crossed before the body. The chest is luxuriantly adorned with beads and jewels, the head with a tall chignon behind a bejeweled crown, a long loose robe is covering the head and shoulders.
