Ca. 664 - 343 BC. Wonderful Egyptian blue faience USHABTI on custom stand. From the late Dynastic period, , the XXVI Dynasty. With hieroglyphics, this faience figurine with Lappet wig, hue, pick, and seed bag, displays a blue glaze. These small servant statues, varying in size from 3"-5", were buried with the dead and were to come to life and act as servants to the deceased in the afterlife. One was interred for each day of the Egyptian calendar year. Smaller figures are generally made for those of lower rank or social status.
