Vollplastische, stehende Aktfigur einer jungen Frau mit geschlossenen Augen in ruhiger, gütig beruhigender Oranten-Pose mit seitlich ausgebreiteten Armen und von diesen herabfallendem Gewand. Der blaue Wolkensockel lässt bei eingehender Betrachtung einen zusammengekauerten Dämon erkennen. Hoetger schuf den von japanischer und chinesischer Kunst beeinflussten 15-tlg. Figurenzyklus der "Licht- und Schattenseiten" 1912 parallel zu seiner Gestaltung des "Platanenhains" in Darmstadt. Die komplette Serie wurde während der letzten Ausstellung der Künstlerkolonie in Darmstadt 1914 für viele Jahrzehnte letztmalig als geschlossene Gruppe in einem Raum inszeniert: sieben "Licht"-Figuren standen sieben "Schatten"-Figuren in einer Reihe jeweils parallel gegenüber; "Der Sieg" krönte, für sich allein an der Stirnseite stehend, den Zyklus. Als zentrale Hauptfigur ist "Der Sieg" die einzige stehende Figur des Zyklus und symbolisiert den Sieg des Lichts über den Schatten.
