A 20th century studio art glass naturalistic bird figurine group by Murano depicting two birds and nest set on a clear glass swirl log base, Murano label present along with a large smokey studio glass dolphin on naturalistic wave base. Measurements: 42 cm highest, 38 cm widest and 25 cm deepest.
An 18th century English porcelain figure, possibly Bow, depicting a girl in yellow cloak over floral design dress, on circular bocage base, 5in. (12.7cm.) high; together with a Derby porcelain figure of a seated boy in yellow coat over an unbuttoned shirt, a heavily laden basket of fruit on his lap, on scroll base with gilt decoration, 5in. (12.7cm.) high. (2) * Condition: Lady figurine has r/h arm missing, chip to top of hat feather, rubbed paint on hat, chip to robe edge, floral & leaf base has major chipping. Male figurine has a small chip to coat and light crazing on face.

A mixed terracotta group comprising: a hollow-formed simian with three legs; an anthropomorph with right arm bent, hand to the abdomen; a D-shaped mask with slit eyes; a jaguar(?) head with gaping mouth, one ear pierced; a greyware figurine fragment with applied facial features; each with a custom-made stand. 562 grams total, 8.5-14cm including stands (3 1/2 - 5 1/2"). Property of an English gentleman; formerly with John Cherry, Dorset, UK; previously in a 19th century collection. [5] Mainly fine condition.

A ceramic figurine of a female with legs folded, arms supporting the breasts, conical head with pinched facial features, pigment stripes to legs, chest and shoulders; 58 grams, 85mm (3 1/4"). From an important Mayfair, London, UK, collection; acquired in the 1990s. Fine condition, chip to crown.
1st-2nd century AD. A silver figurine of a Bacchant reveller modelled in the round, reclining nude with his weight borne on his left elbow, legs spread and crossed, right hand extended holding a bunch of grapes, wreath of vine leaves to the brow. [A video of this lot is available on the TimeLine Auctions website] 163 grams, 78mm (3"). From an old European collection; acquired in Munich in the 1970s. Very fine condition.
1st century AD. A silver figurine of a standing cockerel with textured plumage. Cf. Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965 items 278 279. 27 grams, 38mm (1 1/2"). Property of a private collector; acquired before 1975. The piece most likely comes from a larger figural group of the god Mercury standing, holding a caduceus and money bag, and with a cockerel and goat at his feet. The cockerel was believed to be the herald of the new day and with Mercury as the patron god of merchants this symbolised the new opportunities in business. Very fine condition.
1st century BC-1st century AD. A bronze figurine comprising a horse with one raised foreleg, extended tail, collar to the neck, upright mane, rider with tunic flared to the saddle, extended left hand raised right hand with central void. Cf. Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965 item 107 for horse posture. 33 grams total, 54mm (2 1/4"). From the Haley collection, Halifax, UK; acquired on the UK art market. Roman Period, 30 BC-323 AD. A bronze figurine of a dog on a rectangular base with loop to the shoulders. Cf. Flinders Petrie, W.M. Amulets illustrated by the Egyptian Collection in University College, London, reprinted London, 1994 item 229(d) for type. 4.68 grams, 22mm (1"). Ex Michael Nellist collection, Cornwall, UK; acquired on the UK art market 1970-2000. The Mike Nellist Collection. His interest in antiquity was piqued when, during the 1970s, he spent some time working in Israel and had the opportunity to visit Roman-period locations including Lake Galilee and Masada, the site of the famous Judaean revolt and subsequent massacre. He made his first purchases at that time and was soon building an enviable collection of artefacts. While at university, he was able to study human remains at first hand in conjunction with archaeological research and from there his passion for the human aspects of historical research was kindled. Now retired, Mike indulges one of his other passions – wildlife and nature photography. Fine condition.

2nd-1st century BC. A bronze figurine in the form of a crouched and bound captive from Gaul, with bearded and hooded head, ropes to ankles, wrists and neck; with and iron fixing stud to the reverse, mounted on a custom-made display stand. 44 grams, 51mm including stand (2"). From an important West Country collection; found East Anglia, UK. Extremely fine condition. Very rare.
12th-7th century BC. A flat-backed ceramic figurine depicting a deity with two heads; the eyes and breasts formed with round recesses, the headdresses and necklaces separately applied, formed with vertical strokes; right hand flat on the chest, left hand extended, pierced; the legs combined extending to a conical base. 139 grams, 17.5cm (7"). Ex Terence Eva collection; acquired in the early 1990s. Fine condition.
14th-15th century AD. A bronze figurine of St. John modelled in the half-round standing in loosely draped robes with head tilted, hands clasped and gospel(?) held in the crook of the left arm; pierced above the ankles, attachment point to the flat reverse; traces of gilding to the robes. Recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme with reference number DUR-04003E; accompanied by a print out of the PAS report. 193 grams, 12.5cm (5"). Found County Durham, 2017. Fine condition; abraded facial is attributed to recognised 'puritan' defacing, possibly at the time of the reformation.
4th-1st century BC. A bronze figurine of a horse with forelegs and hindlegs extended, neck arched and mouth open; depression to the shoulders and back to accept a rider figure; forelegs joined by a horizontal bar, hooves pierced for attachment. 85 grams, 95mm (3 3/4"). From the collection of a North West London gentleman; acquired in the 1980s. Fine condition, one back leg part absent.
1st century BC-1st century AD. A central Roman bronze figurine of Venus standing nude, left hand covering her groin, right hand extended holding a hand-mirror; bracelets to the upper arms, hair gathered in a chignon with scallopped tiara above. Cf. Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965 item 75 believed to represent to Etruscan goddess Turan. 180 grams, 12.5cm (5"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Fine condition, repaired.
