A 19th Indian bronze figurine of Shiva Nataraja God of Dance in halo of flames standing on a dwarf like creature "apasmara purusha". Raised on a lotus pedestal base the figure holding in his upper right hand the damaru (hand drum that made the first sounds of creation). His upper left hand holds agni (the fire that will destroy the universe). With his lower right hand, he makes abhaya mudra (the gesture that allays fear). Shiva's front left hand, pointing to his raised left foot, signifies refuge for the troubled soul. Measures approx; 20cm.

Late Dynastic Period, Ca. 664-332 BC.An ancient Egyptian blue faience ushabti. The mummiform figurine wears a tripartite wig, false beard and his crossed hands hold hoes. During the Late Period, tomb figures became known as ushabtis ('answerers'). They represented servants who would magically answer when called upon to perform agricultural duties for the Pharaoh (in the form of Osiris) in the afterlife. Ca. 206 BC - 220 AD.An attractive, hollow-formed terracotta rabbit figurine with a white pelt and coral-pink pigmentation on the nose, around the eyeballs, and inside of the ears. The rabbit is depicted sitting on its haunches with its forelegs raised as if about to groom itself. In the Chinese tradition, the rabbit is the luckiest of animals and symbolises elegance, beauty, and mercy. The Han Dynasty, which ruled between 202 BC-220 AD, brought great prosperity and stability to China, reigning over a golden age of classical Chinese civilisation during which China saw major advances including the widespread development of a monetary economy and the invention of paper, as well as much progress in the decorative arts. This piece has been precisely dated having undergone Thermo Luminescence analysis by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements. Its TL certificate with the full report will also accompany this lot.
