Lot No: 71 - Ref No: 066 The Oak and the Daffodil By Kate Trewartha-Wyatt ''I live on Dartmoor with my husband, three daughters and two dogs. I love our Devon life, the rich landscape and kindly people make life a blessing every day. My love of art started in the late 80s when I took my A levels at Tavistock College. I went on to DeMontfort University to study Art, History of Art and media studies. I completed my honours degree specialising in Media before becoming a journalist and camera woman at ITV. I worked at the station for over a decade before opening up my own Arts and Crafts business teaching the young a variety of different topics. More recently my Arts education has turned full circle as I have trained to become an Art teacher and have now come back to where I began, at Tavistock College. I am a full-time art teacher and I take great pride in my students and hope to inspire them, this is the reason I have chosen to enter this Arts Trail. As a mother and as a teacher I have looked at my otter project with a view of the contrast between the two different generations it represents. The older otter reflects the Autumn of life, as each leaf falls, knowledge is gained, but life becomes shorter. Where the younger otter is representative of Spring with fresh blooms growing and experiences just beginning. The contrast between the elder and younger otters is apparent through the different treatment given to each figurine.''
