A large glazed buff ceramic undated archaistic figurine of a court official, in Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD style, on a hexagonal-section stand; the figure wearing an ankle-length wrap-over robe with belt knotted at the waist, a book held beneath the right arm, left arm covered by an overlength sleeve; the stand with scrolled legs and void to the upper face, hollow to the underside; separate head in tall ceremonial hat with pierced ears. 2.6 kg, 49cm (19 1/4). Ex Swiss collection; acquired 2105 from a Danish Gallery. . Fine condition.

A bronze figurine of a standing male modelled in the round with loop above the head; conical headgear and oversized shoulders suggesting a helmet and armour. 4.06 grams, 38mm (1 1/2). A mixed group of agate items comprising: four D-section finger rings; a carved Buddha pendant with loop; a plano-convex button with integral loop; a rosette; two lingzhi pendants; a figurine of a bird on a rock. 29 grams total, 13-25mm (1/2 - 1). Property of a Warwickshire gentleman; formerly in the private collection of the famous actor Leslie Phillips; acquired 1950-1960. Born in 1924 in London, Leslie Phillips attended the Italia Conti Academy where he developed the slightly affected accent which became his trademark. He usually played a roguish, suave charmer, and also enjoyed successful comic roles in the early Carry On films and on radio’s The Navy Lark. He has appeared in more than fifty films, plays and TV series spanning six decades; and recently gained new fans through his appearances in the Harry Potter films. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1998 Queen's Birthday Honours; promoted to Commander (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours. [10, No Reserve]. Fine condition.
