In 1968 Elizabeth received her first major commission from Cartier in New York City to create a special collection for their new catalogue. Four years later, she was presented with the coveted De Beers International Diamond Award for her 'Agincourt' ring. Some of her designs are included in the permanent jewellery collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In original gilt decorated fitted box Fontenay Smets Paris, Estimated total diamond weight 2.40 caratsThe firm of Fontenay was founded by Eugene Fontenay 1824-1887, and rose to become one of the best known French jewellers of the 20th C. In 1855 he was commissioned to design a diadem for Princess Eugene. Many of his designs drew inspiration from nature and from ancient jewellery. In 1882 he handed over the running of the business to his foreman Henri Smets to work as a jewellery historian. 'Les Bijoux Anciens et Modernes' one the first books to attempt to trace the history of jewellery since antiquity was published after his death.Condition Report: The necklace is in overall good condition.Diamonds are bright and lively some showing small inclusions.
