A German Art Deco silver and enamel cigarette caseLouis Kuppenheim of Pforzheim, 1924-1930, incuse stamped 935 STERLING Of long rectangular form, the cover enamelled in a geometric red and black pattern, a sprung hinge opening with a push button to reveal a gilt interior, the monogram 'L.N.D.' engraved to the left-hand interior cover, and a pierced sprung engine-turned silver retaining clip to the other, length 15.5cm, weight 6.4oz.Footnotes:Louis Kuppenheim, founded in 1857, became a renowned firm of gold and silver box manufacturers and smallworkers in the popular jewellery town of Pforzheim, Germany. They were famed for their high quality craftmanship and enamelling, and in the early 20th century they reached their zenith, employing around 200 factory workers, opening a Paris store and running a thriving export business. London, including; four piece brush set (1910), green felt lined square jewellery box (1910), hinged shaving box (1906), 2 x small lidded cannisters (one screw top) and 1 x tall lidded cannister (all 1894), hinged vesta with two section interior (1897), and a rectangular lidded cannister (the top 1894, the base 1907), all monogrammed to reserve, jewellery box and brushes also stamped "Asprey London", together with button hook and sewing items.
