A coromandel and brass bound jewellery casket, 19th century, the lid with brass bindings and central diamond with vacant cartouche opening to reveal a fitted interior with lift out tray above a quartered compartmental base. Width 25 cm, height 10 cm, depth 17.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the box is flat. There is a small veneer loss to the rear right hand corner approximately 6 mm square. There is an old stress fracture running nearly all the way across the top from the right hand edge just beneath the centre binding underneath the centre circular cartouche and across to the left hand binding. This is not open but is visible. The rear left top metal binding is missing at the back. The one second from the right is loose. There are various pins missing from the bindings. Most bindings are tarnished. The front left binding is missing the crosspiece. The rear hinges are in good condition and original. The lock and plate are present. We have the key. The lift out tray is missing the two cloth lifting loops. The condition of the interior is however generally fairly good simply dusty. The sides, front and back of the box have no significant issues and only minor surface marks and scratches. The timber is generally a little dry and there is some water spotting to the top surface.
