A 19th century French ebonized and boulle work jewellery box, the lid decorated with a cut foliate brass panel to a button silk lined interior, 11.3cm high, 27.4cm wide, 19cm deep.Provenance: The Dr Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes. Lot 231 – boulle box. Overall cracking and shrinkage to the inlay to the lid and to the escutcheon with some losses and possible repairs. Old dents and marks to the brass, the ebonised exterior has faded to the front and sides with some old surface marks and scratches with some replacements to the brass stringing. An old repair to the back right base corner. Some losses to brass stringing. The interior quite worn. Overall not in the best of condition. The base with a large crack visible to the underside
A Victorian black leather jewellery box by Leuchars, with gilt tooled line decoration, the hinged lid with a gilt brass monogram to a plush lined interior with two pull-out trays, one with divisions, fitted with a Bramah lock and the front edge stamped 'W. LEUCHARS, MAKER, 38, PICCADILLY, LONDON.', 16cm high, 32.7cm wide, 24cm deep.Provenance: The Dr Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes. Lot 361 – Leuchars jewellery box. Overall with some surface marks and wear to the exterior of the box with some small scuffs to the front edge of the lid. Minor dents and wear to corners and edges. The base lining is missing. Slight warp to lid. Interior: the lock teeth have broken off, the plush is worn in places, old wear to the lock plate. It is a little grubby and a little worn with minor scuffs and scratches to the leather and wear to the plush and silk linings. The handles on the trays possibly later.
A Victorian coromandel dressing case box, the hinged lid inset with a brass plaque inscribed with the initials 'R.E.B.G.', the interior fitted with a mirror to the lid above various cut glass bottles and jars, six with silver plated lids and with mother of pearl handled utensils and lidded compartments, above a fall front revealing two drawers, one lined and with divisions for jewellery each with a sunken brass handle, 19.1cm high, 30.5cm wide, 23cm deep.Provenance: The Dr Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes.
