A late 19th century Victorian diamond clad brooch in the form of a bird in flight, the head inset with a brilliant cut diamond, approx .01ct, gold beak and small ruby inset eyes, the body clad all over with small diamond chips, approximately sixty-three in total, all mounted in white metal, possibly platinum, with inscription around the front of the wings 'Jim to Cissie January 17th 99' (1899), with gold safety chain and safety pin, with small claw set brilliant cut diamond to the safety pin, length from wing to wing approx 5.3cm, width approx 2.6cm, in purpose made jewellery presentation box, with Liverpool retailer Byrne, Bold Street Liverpool. CONDITION REPORT Sixty-four diamonds in total and two rubies. There are four diamonds missing to the body. The brooch pin is a little bent. There are no hallmarks. Otherwise in good condition.
