A 1920s honey oak cased canteen of silver plated flatware for 12 persons: by Atkins Brothers, Old English pattern, the three fitted drawers holding 12 table forks, 12 dessert forks, 12 dessert spoons, 6 soup spoons, 6 table spoons, 11 tea spoons (one missing), 6 egg spoons, 4 salt spoons, a sugar spoon, a mustard spoon, a pair of sauce ladles, a pair of sugar tongs, a pair of basting spoons and a soup ladle, plus the original 7 piece steel carving set; and a matched part set of 10 dessert and 3 table knives with ivorine handles, all in a three drawer oak canteen with rebated gilt brass handles and two keys, the canteen The flatware in good condition, with no wear to the plating and just expected light scratching from use. Lacks one tea spoon and the mustard spoon. The 'bone' handled knives are a matched, harlequin part-set. The baize lining is in good order. Some scratches and tarnishing to brass fittings throughout, with heavier tarnishing to the carrying handles, The oak canteen is good overall, with no engraving to the brass shield plate to the lid. Lock works well. Some marks, dings and surface dirt to the oak, with small chips and knocks around the plinth. One long scratch to the back. No splits.

There are a few items which have suffered slight damage, one being a salt and pepper shaker which has multiple cracks around the glaze, a twin handled soup dish which has a large chip and hairline crack to the rim, the lid of one container that features a singular yellow rose has a couple of chips to the petals, one of the starter plates is scratched to the interior. There is a chip to one ladel and crazing to the glaze on one coffee cup. A small teacup also has a large hairline crack to the rim. In general there is slight loss to the pattern and gilding, and the service is in need of a clean as there are yellow stains to the backs and some to the front.
