Inverness. A early Scottish Provincial soup ladle, en suite with the preceding lot but of bright cut Old English pattern, 34cm l, maker J & I and marked INS, camel and J (sideways), c1800-1815, 6ozs Although clearly marked 'J&I', as no Inverness partnership of these initials is recorded a more likely identification of the makers of this ladle is perhaps Jameson & Noughten which would suggest a date of post 1814. Whilst working on his own Jameson often used as one of his group of marks a sideways struck letter 'J'. ++In excellent finely preserved condition
