A George VI silver canteen of Salisbury? pattern cutlery for twelve by Mappin & Webb, comprising two hundred and nine items, including twenty four ivorine handled table knives, twelve dessert knives, six piece carving set and twelve pairs of mother of pearl handed dessert eaters, all with steel blades except for the dessert forks which have silver tines, the silver flatware hallmarked for Sheffield, 1937/38/39 & 40, and engraved with the letter H, weighable silver 232oz, housed in a free standing walnut two drawer canteen on cabriole legs with claw and ball feet, width 74.5cm.CONDITION: 12 silver fish knives and forks. 24 table forks, 12 dessert forks, 12 dessert spoons, 12 teaspoons, 12 grapefruit spoons, 12 soup spoons, 6 egg spoons, 4 serving spoons, sifter spoon, pair of fish servers, soup ladle, pair of sauce ladles, three small serving spoons, 12 coffee spoons and a pickle spoon and fork. The canteen is in generally fairly well used condition, with numerous nicks and scratches to the silver consistent with age, but the fork tines and spoons tips are in good order with little signs of wear. One mother of pearl handles of the dessert forks and knives is damaged and most of the rest of the handles have sprung slightly. All hallmarks clear.
A 19th century Austrian 13 loth (.812 standard silver) service of fiddle and thread pattern flatware, in brass mounted fitted canteen, comprising eighteen table and eighteen teaspoons, eighteen table and eighteen dessert forks, a ladle and two serving/basting spoons, all with engraved initials, 129 oz.CONDITION: Four of the table spoons have dents to their bowls. Visible wear beginning to show of the table and dessert fork tines. Minor surface scratches to some in general, in line with age and some use. Austrian marks quite rubbed.

There is some visible wear to the fork tines on some of the forks, minor surface scratches to the bowls and stems consistent with some use. Some of the knife handles have sprung/ are loose and or have been repaired poorly. Hallmarks generally good, apart from the knives.

Condition Report Each piece is engraved with the initial 'S'. There are some slight surface scratching and nicks consistent with limited use. There are a few scratches to the two carving knife blades. The set is made by C.J Vander Limited. The handles to the knives and carving impliments are hollow. The cabinet: the bottom drawer has a spare compartment possibly to hold associated items such as napkin rings. There is some light corrosion to the lock plates. The three keys are rusty, otherwise one or two surface marks to the outside consistent with age and use.
