A Copeland late Spode Greek series soup tureen and cover made for the Drapers Company, of oval shape on a broad foot, with moulded ram's head handles and recumbent ram knop, printed overall in blue with the usual border design of vases and classical figure panels and the cover with a central panel of four animals, both body and cover with cut-outs containing the company's full arms with supporters, crest, and motto "Unto God Only Be Honour and Glory", overall length 37.7cm, printed "Copeland / late Spode" marks and impressed crown on base, circa 1847-67 (very small chip to edge of ladle hole on cover). Note that this tureen shape normally has loop handles and knop, replaced on this example by moulded designs possibly specially commissioned to reflect the Drapers Company's armorial crest
