A matched part canteen of 19th Century silver fiddle and thread pattern cutlery, engraved with crest, comprising 12 table spoons (six by The Portland Co., Francis Higgins, four London 1825 maker's mark WC and two further by William Theobalds and Lockington Bunn), 3 sauce ladles (two by The Portland Co. and one London 1825, WC), 1 large ladle by the Portland Co., 12 dessert spoons (six by The Portland Co., four London 1825, WC, and two London 1834, WT), 9 dessert forks (three by The Portland Co., four London 1840, WE, and two with different crest), 12 teaspoons (five by The Portland Co., and seven London 1825, WC), 15 table forks (eight by William Eley & William Fearn, three various, and four further various with different crest), and two table spoons (mixed makers and dates), 135ozt. Contained in oak canteen with fitted drawers with label for Chapple & Mantell Silversmiths, 32 Strand, London, and brass name plaque for E. Oliver.NB Please note that we have only just noticed that four table forks and two dessert forks are Hanoverian pattern not fiddle and thread.
