ALIENS (1986) - Model Miniature Colony BuildingA model miniature colony building from the production of James Cameron's action sci-fi sequel Aliens. Model buildings were used throughout the film to create the set of Hadley's Hope, a terraforming and mining colony on the planetoid LV-426. Miniature scale buildings were used when the U.S. Colonial Marines arrived in their dropship and drove their APC vehicles through the desolate town. The model miniature building is made from resin with a plasticard roof dressed with plastic rods and blocks. Several sections on this model were constructed using a method known as kitbashing where the designer would take pieces from other models and toys - most notable models used are a Star Wars Snowspeeder, Millennium Falcon and a Space: 1999 Eagle transporter.
