A VERY RARE ANTIQUE EROTIC SET, MEIJIJapan, early 20th century, Meiji period (1868-1912)These sex toys, carved from multi-hued horn, known as "laughter devices," were made for practical use. Comprising one hollow dildo, which could have cotton wadding soaked in hot water placed inside it, the hot water making the dildo soft and warm. A striking toy called ´armor and helmet' (Dōkyō no yoroi-kabuto), this was worn on the penis to give it a ribbed texture, the 'armor' was worn on the shaft of the penis and the 'helmet' over the glans. In this set we can see two kinds: in one, the armor and helmets are separate; in the other, they form a single piece. There are also four examples of rings to be worn around the penis, one made from lacquered wood, two finger dildos and six metal balls. In a wooden storage box.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, one ´armor´ with a short crack, one helmet with a chip, the lacquered ring with flakes to the lacquer. Provenance: Czech private collection. Dinky Toys x 3 Mint boxed Simca 1100 Police no. 1450 made in Spain. Boxed motorway Police car no. 269 - vehicle has had paintwork touched up and aerial broken - box is good apart from a small impressed split to one side. Lot also includes a Daimler Ambulance unboxed but in reasonable condition.

Small amount of paint loss, mostly to corners but condition generally good. Some small splits to box and a split in the cellophane lid.

Lot also includes a clockwork dock crane and a small hand operated crane. A pair of blue ground cloisonne vases, 20th century, decorated with flowers, 26cm high, and with another smaller green lidded cloisonne vase, 20cm high; together with a Japanese satsuma vase a/f, 37.5cm high, 3 Chinese porcelain floral decorated vases, 20th century, 11cm high, and two other ceramic bowls, and two wooden toys etcJapanese satsuma vase - has large chips to the rim with enamel punches to the side a/f Wooden toys - slight chipping and some cracking. The enamelled vase - has minor flaking in some areas, and a collection of dust and dirt. In some areas there is oxidation around the basal rims and some gapping on one. The studio vase and bowls have chipping and staining and general wear from use.
