Pip, Squeak and Wilfred, c.1920's/30's, possibly by Alpha Farnell, wood-wool filled soft toys with glass eyes,: 'Pip' the dog is black and white with stitched nose and red collar, height 30cm (heavy mohair loss to one leg); 'Squeak' the penguin is black and white with orange nose and felt feet with wire frame, height 28cm (mohair loss to back, hole to beak and feet); 'Wilfred' the rabbit, with whiskers and stitched nose and mouth, wire frame to ears. Together with a handkerchief case with Pip, Squeak and Wilfred illustration. Overall G condition. 'Pip, Squeak and Wilfred' was a newspaper strip cartoon published in 'The Daily Mirror' from 1919 to 1956; created by Bertram Lamb and illustrated by Austin Bowen Payne it told the story of an orphaned family of animals.
