Corgi Major Toys Gift Set No. 1 Carrimore Car Transporter with 4 cars, comprising Bedford Carrimore Car Transporter with red cab and blue trailer, Rover 90 Saloon No. 204, Jaguar 2.4 Litre Saloon No. 208, Austin Healey Sports Car No. 300 and M.G.A. Sports Car No. 302, with two spacer/dummy boxes.. Gift set box - Hole in cover. Tears to box edges and corners. A pair of early 20th century carved wood and painted hunting bookends attributed to Frank Whittington, of Forest toys, each made of walnut and applied with a huntsman on horseback accompanied by a fox hound, 20cm high. (2) Frank Whittington (1876-1973) established a toy making firm at the end of World War I in the New Forest, making carved animals and people, inspired by his surroundings and from regular trips to London Zoo and the Natural History Museum. Originally making the toys from home the demand became such that in 1922 he built a factory on the edge of the New Forest (Brockenhurst). The popularity of the figures rose when Queen Mary ordered two dozen Noah`s Arks after seeing them at the British Industries Fairs during the inter war period. λ A William IV rosewood sewing box, of sarcophagus shape, inlaid with brass stringing and with egg and dart mouldings, the hinged lid with a shaped plaque with engraved initials, revealing a silk lined interior, with a letter pouch to the underside of the lid, with a lift-out tray with lidded compartments, utensils, reels, a thimble and assorted related items, with a printed paper trade label 'Sold at MANSFIELDS LONDON FANCY WAREHOUSE 15, GRAFTON STRT Work Boxes, Dressing Cases, Jewellery, Combs, Toys & C. & C.', 30cm wide.
