(48.5cm.) high (large chip around left ear piercing hole); and the other just impressed 7 with fixed blue glass eyes, heavy brown brow, open mouth with top row of teeth, pierced ears, black hair wig on cork pate, jointed papier-mache body, red tartan dress, white cotton underclothes and kid boots -18in. (46cm.) high (broken and glued across forehead, mainly hidden under fringe and eyes have become unstuck), both dolls have a matching mushroom silk plush coat and matching hat with brown silk trim and a pair of gloves, the larger doll also has a green tartan dress and gilt metal toy fob watch; also included is a bone hair brush and comb, two silvered clothes brushes and a flannel; the head of the second doll was stuffed with a 1903 page from The Sphere, a periodical featuring a Cadbury’s advertisement - the childhood toys of Christabel Browning (b.1897) and her sister Eileen Browning (b.1896)

A rare British set of velvet animal skittles 1910-1920s, possibly Chad Valley, comprising three seated velvet tabby cats with curly tails, one orange, one blue and one yellow, green and black glass eyes, black painted stripes and red stitched nose and mouth -7in. (18cm.) high, two yellow and green velvet owls with black painted feathers, a head and shoulders of a cream velvet dog with brown patches, black boot button eyes, black stitched nose and mouth, black oil-cloth collar and red felt conical hat, another cream velvet begging dog with brown velvet ears, black pin-head eyes and leather muzzle, an orange velvet squirrel with black glass eyes, black stitched nose and mouth and brown mohair tail and a brown felt monkey Kingpin with pink felt face, glass eyes and red felt Fez and collar, all on turned wooden bases and a pink and yellow velvet ball (begging dog with holes in from leg, some slight wear and fading, split to seam of ball and back of monkey patched) - the monkey does not seem to be the same quality of the other animal, but toy production of this type in England was not a precise process and they probably just used toys available to make up the set
