HERGÉ: (1907-1983) Georges Prosper Remi. Belgian Cartoonist. Best known for creating the series of comics ''The Adventures of Tintin''. An excellent T.L.S., `G. Remi Hergé´, one page, 4to, Forges, 8th October 1948, on his personal printed stationery, showing the printed heading `Hergé -Dessinateur´, to Monsieur Raymond Leblanc, in French. This little party on September 25th, which brought together the newspaper team to celebrate the second anniversary of its foundation, did I tell you how much I found it nice? Since then, I have thought a lot about the social role that a weekly comic magazine like ours could play in the field of youth more precisely´) Hergé further explains one of his suggestions saying `Si «Le Soir» possède sa `St. Nicolas des Petits Déhérités´, I don´t see why `Tintin´ would not offer poor children its `Christmas Tree´ for example? In order to be able to welcome, on December 25th, about twenty children handpicked from poverty, and offer them a snack, attractions, clothes and toys…´) Hergé confirms his serious commitment stating `Il va sans dire que ma collaboration, en cette affaire, serait sérieuse…´ (`It goes without saying that my collaboration in this matter would be serious…´) Further again and before concluding, Hergé says `Je caresse d´autres projets encore, mais il convient de commencer prudemment et modestement… I have other projects in mind, but it is advisable to start cautiously and modestly… There are so many things to do in this area, and I believe that our journal must take initiatives of this kind. It is a duty for ourselves and for our readers: the youth helping the youth…´) Signed in bold dark ink at the base of the letter. Very small creasing to edges with two binder holes to the left border and a trace of a former staple to the upper left heading, none affecting the text or signature. Accompanied by the original typed letter sent by Leblanc, acknowledging receipt of Hergé´s letter, and responding to the proposals of helping children. Folded. G Raymond Leblanc (1915-2008) Belgian comic book Publisher and film Director. Leblanc is best known for publishing The Adventures of Tintin. He also promoted many of the most important Franco-Belgian comics.
