A Royal Worcester Porcelain Fruit Painted Dessert Plate, John Freeman, mid 20th century, with gadroon moulded undulating rim punctuated by shell motifs, painted with three apples, a bunch of green grapes and three purple grapes against a mossy bank, signed, black printed crown and wheel mark, gilder`s mark C56, 22.5cm diameter. Freeman was born in 1911 and joined the Royal Worcester factory in 1925. He became the senior fruit painter at the factory, and indeed was known as "The Fruit Machine" due to the speed of his output.
