Two late 18th/mid 19th century Royal Navy Commissions on parchment to Charles Patriarch, one for his appointment to Lieutenant on HMS sloop 'Vulture' the other to the rank of Commander on his retirement. Commander Patriarch fought in the Battle of St Domingue in 1806 on board HMS 'Superb' where he received a serious leg wound. He afterwards received a gratuity of £91.55 plus an annual pension of £91.55 until his death on the 16th January 1850. At one time he lived in Worcester Street, Gloucester.
