Attributed to John William Wadsworth (British, 1879 - 1955): a watercolour depicting a harbour scene, inscribed verso, 26 x 33 cm. Note: Principally a Pottery designer, Wadsworth was born in Macclesfield and studied at Stockport Schools of Art, gaining scholarship in 1898 to Royal College of Art, where he was influenced by Crane and Lethaby. Appointed Assistant Art Director to L.V. Solon at Mintons in 1901, becoming Art Director in 1905. Joint designer with Léon Solon of Secessionist ware from 1901-2. Moved to the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company as Art Director in 1915.
