Original vintage propaganda poster for the French Foreign Legion - Legion Etrangere. Featuring collage of photographs of a soldier in diffirent uniforms. Good condition, crease marks on image. County: France, year of printing:1980s, designer: Kepi Blanc, size (cm): 65x50. The French Foreign Legion - Légion étrangère is a military service branch of the French Army established in 1831. Legionnaires are highly trained infantry soldiers and the Legion is unique in that it was, and continues to be, open to foreign recruits willing to serve in the French Armed Forces. When it was founded, the French Foreign Legion was not unique; other foreign formations existed at the time in France. Commanded by French officers, it is open to French citizens, who amounted to 24% of the recruits in 2007. The Foreign Legion is today known as a unit whose training focuses on traditional military skills and on its strong esprit de corps, as its men come from different countries with different cultures. This is a way to strengthen them enough to work as a team. Consequently, training is often described as not only physically challenging, but also very stressful psychologically. French citizenship may be applied for after three years' service. The Legion is the only part of the French military that does not swear allegiance to France, but to the Foreign Legion itself. Any soldier who becomes injured during a battle for France can immediately apply to be a French citizen under a provision known as "Français par le sang versé" ("French by spilled blood"). As of 2008, members come from 140 countries.

Original vintage propaganda poster -Wirklichkeit Kafr Kasem 1956 - Reality Kafr Qasim. The Kafr Qasim massacre took place in the Israeli Arab village of Kafr Qasim situated on the Green Line, at that time, the de facto border between Israel and the Jordanian West Bank on October 29, 1956. It was carried out by the Israel Border Police (Magav), who killed Arab civilians returning from work during a curfew, imposed earlier in the day, on the eve of the Sinai war, of which they were unaware. In total 48 people died, of which 19 were men, 6 were women and 23 were children aged 8–17. Arab sources usually give the death toll as 49, as they include the unborn child of one of the women. The border policemen who were involved in the shooting were brought to trial and found guilty and sentenced to prison terms, but all received pardons and were released in a year. The brigade commander was sentenced to pay the symbolic fine of 10 prutot (old Israeli cents). The Israeli court found that the command to kill civilians was “blatantly illegal”. Issachar “Yiska” Shadmi — the highest ranking official prosecuted for the massacre — stated, shortly before his death, that the curfew and the massacre were planned as phases within an operation to ethnically cleanse Israeli Arabs from the region, and that his trial was staged to protect Israeli political and military elite, including Prime Minister Ben Gurion, from taking responsibility for the massacre. In December 2007, President of Israel Shimon Peres formally apologised for the massacre. Good condition, creasing , tears, light staining.  HITLER ADOLF: (1889-1945) Fuhrer of the Third Reich 1933-45. An interesting D.S., A Hitler, two pages, folio, Berlin, 17th October 1935, on the printed stationery of Der Fuhrer und Reichskanzler, in German. The typed document concerns film censorship in the Third Reich and states, in full, 'As of late it has been variously noted that attempts have been made by individuals, organisations, professions, associations, and their press organs to influence film censorship in an impermissible fashion, thus causing great uneasiness in German cinematic creativity and severe economic harm. The assessment of a film's subject matter or plot cannot be made from the perspective of an individual profession, and the objection to a film solely because of the fact that members of a profession do evil deeds is absurd, for by contrasting good and bad the film is an artistic portrayal of the conflicts of life. Therefore the assessment of a film must be made on general philosophical and general artistic principles, but not from the perspective of an individual or a profession. For this reason, film censorship can only be carried out by one authority which provides the assurance that the examination is done from a fundamental philosophical and artistic standpoint. Even the attempt to influence it must severely upset cinematic creativity, and in view of the complications of film production processes and the great sums which must be invested in every film, great losses must be the result. In the National Socialist state only one person is always responsible for a thing. For this reason, I point out that film censorship is the exclusive responsibility of the Reich Minister for Enlightenment of the People and Propaganda, and the authorities appointed by him, and that the exertion of whatever kind of pressure on the decisions of these authorities is not permissible and is prohibited'. Signed by Hitler at the conclusion and also bearing the ink initial ('L') and date, 17th October, of an unidentified Nazi official. Together with Walther Funk (1890-1960) German Economist & Nazi official, Reich Minister for Economic Affairs 1938-45. T.L.S., Walther Funk, one page, 4to, Berlin, 16th October 1935, to Dr. [Hans] Lammers, on his personal printed stationery, in German. Funk sends Lammers a draft [i.e. the present document, before being signed by Hitler] which he states is 'already approved in principle by the Fuhrer for an authorisation on the question of film censorship to all Reichs and party authorities'. Two file holes to the left edge, not affecting the text or signature, and with various ink, pencil and stamped annotations and dates etc., including two notes in green indelible pencil again signed with the initial ('L') by an official and dated 17th October. An unusual and interesting pair of documents relating to Nazism and the cinema. VG, 2   At the time of the present document and letter Walther Funk was serving as a Secretary of State in the Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda (1933-37).   Hans Lammers (1879-1962) German Jurist & a prominent Nazi Politician. Lammers served as Chief of the Reich Chancellery from 1933-45.   Joseph Goebbels (1897-1945) German Nazi Politician, Reichsminister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda 1933-45.    The Nazis valued film as a propaganda instrument of enormous power and the interest Hitler and Goebbels took in film was not only the result of a personal fascination. The use of film as a means of propaganda had been planned by the Nazi Party as early as 1930 when the party first established a film department.
