(no ribbons, war medal ribbon bar bent); a pair of British War Medal and 1914-15 Star to "19338 PTE. R.H. FRANKISH. E. YORK. R." and pair of Victory Medal and British War Medal to "75530 PTE. H.V POOLE R. FUS. (7)Private George Burrett, 1st Battalion Essex Regiment. Also Labour Corps [20928]. Served in Gallipoli (Dardanelles). Private Robert Henry Frankish, East Yorkshire Regiment. Also entitled to the Victory Medal and likewise to Burrett, saw action in Gallipoli (presumably with the 6th Battalion). Private Horace Victor Poole, Royal Fusiliers. Also Labour Corps [612790].
A small group of First World medals comprising Victory medal to "J. 75619 E.E VEAL ORD. R.N."; Victory medal to "ASST. ENG. F.W ELLIOTT R.N"; 1914-15 Star to "39346 PTE. W. GRAY R.A.M.C"; a Victory Medal to "948 PTE. T. H. POOLE SEA. HIGHRS." and a Belgian Croix de Guerre medal. (5)Notes: Interestingly, Private Thomas Henry Poole (b.1883) is listed first as killed and then as a prisoner of war on 20th December 1914. He was discharged on 16th September 1919 and classified as disabled with neurasthenia.
Royal Navy. James, 1st Baron Gambier, Admiral of the Fleet, Governor of Newfoundland. A signed Free Frank dated 1831. Addressed to William Morton Pitt, MP for Poole and Dorset. Pitt was previously married to Gambier's sister, Margaret (d.1818). With wax seal. The remnants of the letter to the reverse concern Gambier's wishes for the second Mrs Pitt and his every regard of affection for Pitt.
A collection of two vintage 20th century studio pottery vases alongside a studio pottery planter. The lot includes a Poole Pottery wild poppy planter, with blue ground and floral decorations in vibrant yellow and green. The two Poole Pottery vases both have blue grounds with shades of yellow, orange, and green. Largest measures approx. 18cm.
