NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS (2007) - Ben Gates' (Nicholas Cage) Production-Made Book Pages on Esteban de Dorantes - Ben Gates' (Nicholas Cage) book pages on Esteban de Dorantes from the production of Jon Turteltaub's National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Ben read the story of Esteban de Dorantes to Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) and Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) of how he discovered the City of Gold and later couldn't find it when he returned.Created by book designer Ross MacDonald based on extensive research, this book was created by production as a backup in case the on-set copies were lost or damaged, and vary from gift versions, as these original master copies were each hand-altered to coincide with the script and final screening. Gift versions were full printed copies. This lot consists of three pages and two full book pages that are folded with Spanish and English type and printed illustrations. These pages are distressed to appear aged. This lot exhibits minor creases in the corners. Dimensions: (approx.) 9" x 12" x 0.25" (23 cm x 30.5 cm x 0.75 cm)Estimate: $1,000 - 2,000Bidding for this lot will end on Saturday, August 17th. Lot 1

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) - Framed Pair of Discovery Crew Mission Patches - A pair of framed Discovery crew mission patches from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Dave Bowman (Keir Dullea), Frank Poole (Gary Lockwood), and other crew members aboard the Discovery One wore matching patches on their standard-issue jumpsuits throughout the film.Often considered among the greatest films ever made, 2001 was created through intensive research and design teams headed by Kubrick, who legendarily oversaw every aspect of production, down to the actors' costumes. The Discovery One uniforms in particular were designed by NASA veteran Harry Lange, whose painstaking attention to detail lent the production an air of unprecedented realism.Indeed, Lange received an Academy Award® nomination for his work two months before Apollo 11 landed on the moon.Custom-made for the film, these patches were originally obtained from an employee of UK costume house Bermans & Nathans, who saved them when the jumpsuits were stripped for re-use in another production. This pair consists of one round denim patch designed in the style of Apollo-era NASA patches with "United States Astronautics Agency" and "Discovery" printed in black around a blue-and-gold-color sun emblem, as well as one blue felt-backed, wing-shaped patch embroidered with celestial bead patterns. Both come mounted to muslin with archival glue and archivally framed in a custom black frame equipped with a hanging wire on the reverse. The denim patch exhibits creasing and light fraying around its edges from being removed from a uniform, while the felt on the other patch is pilling at both ends. Dimensions: 8" x 9.5" x 1.5" (20.5 cm x 24.25 cm x 4 cm)Estimate: $15,000 - 30,000Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday, August 15th.
