An 18th century mahogany bracket clock by Edmund Poole*, Limehouse, London. The case with arched pediment with brass carry-handle, brass ogee bracket feet and brass fish-scale side frets. Framing a silvered dial with both Roman and Arabic numerals and the maker's name. The back A-plate is intricately etched with floral detail, swags and vase. Single fusee movement with verge escapement. 23 x 17cm. *Circa 1720-30. Part of the clockmaker's guild 1722 - 27.

Victorian Royal National Lifeboat Institution Silver Life Saving Medal Poole Dorset.A Victorian Silver example awarded to “MR RICHARD STOKES VOTED 7TH SEPTEMBER 1882”. The citation for the medal:“On his retirement, in acknowledgement of his long and gallant services from 1865 when the station was established. He took part in services to the brigs Antares and Contest (1867), the lugger Augustine (1868) and the ketch William Pitt and the ship Martaban (1874). Sixty three lives were saved by the lifeboat Manley Wood during this period.”Mr Richard Stokes was in 1814 and was appointed the first Coxswain of the Poole Lifeboat “Manley Wood” in 1865. He was also appointed Master of the Harbour Lights. He died in March 1886 after suffering a heart attack, his coffin was carried by shipmates of the Coastguard, who also fired rockets over his grave in tribute. This is the only R.N.L.I. medal of any type awarded to an enrolled R.N.L.I. crewman of the Poole Lifeboat.
