Aldam (W. H.) A Quaint Treatise on "Flees, and the Art a Artyfichall Flee Making," by an Old Man well-known on the Derbyshire streams as a first-class fly-fisher a century ago. Printed from an old ms. never before published, the original spelling and language being retained, with editorial notes and patterns of flies and samples of the materials for making each fly, 1st edition, 2nd issue, 'Unauthorized issue' London: John Day, 1876, later state 'Unauthorized issue' without the two mounted chromolithograph plates after James Poole, 25 flies and materials contained in 22 sunken oval mounts on 6 thick card leaves, some scattered spotting, original pictorial cloth gilt, edges slightly rubbed, 4toQTY: (1)NOTE:Westwood & Satchell p. 3. The first issue bears the date 1875, the second issue is dated 1876 and both had the two chromolithograph plates after James Poole, the present copy is a later state issued by Day, likely without Aldam's approval as he described them as 'spurious copies'.

The lot comprising 1732 The Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments printed by John Baskett 1732, contemp. full speckled calf bible with blind tooled boards, contemp. & modern ownership inscriptions to ffeps incl. newspaper clipping relating to Royal Wedding 2011; 1741 The Book of Common Prayer, and Administration of the Sacraments printed by Thomas Baskett 1741, full reverse calf binding with modern tape repairs, rear board loose but present, various contemp. ownership inscriptions of members of the family; and four volume 1802 The New Testament of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Chris, published for John Reeves Esq. All four volumes in matched full straight grain morocco binding with heavily gilt tooled boards & dentelles, spines rather rubbed but otherwise an attractive set, also with thorough family birth and death dates to ffeps. 8vo.
A collection of named ceramics and figures, to include two Royal Doulton D6202 Monty jug, Winton Churchill jug, Poole Vase and two Royal Doulton figure groups from the 'Childhood Memories' collection; Look at Me and Off we Go. Poole vase has slight scratches to surface.All frills on both Staffordshire figures are broken.Other pieces good condition.
