The pepper mill has generally faired better. The blackened area/verdigris under the cover of the salt mill appears as corrosion, and may prove difficult to remove. Both currently house their respective cruets. Additional images now available.

The National Library of Ireland hold Poole's archive, including the negative of this photograph which they, or Poole's archive, date to February 1915.
