Dorset. Poole Association George III Officer's oval shoulder belt plate circa 1803-16.A good extremely scarce example. Gilt oval plate , the centre finely engraved with the Arms of Poole within a crowned strap inscribed "Poole Association". Reverse retaining original fixings of single central hook and two studs. Gilt worn otherwise VGCRaised in 1798 to face the threat of invasion from Napoleon. 2 Captains and 4 Lieutenants were commissioned on 29th May 1798.
