Mesolithic, 18000-8000 BC. A mixed group comprising: a heavy 'Thames Pick' type axe; three cleavers formed on heavy flint flakes; a heavy keeled scraper; a small flint chopping implement. 1.02 kg total, 13.7-17.2cm (5 1/4 - 6 3/4). From the Dr Brian Poole Collection, Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK; found by vendor, Ashmore, Dorset, UK. [5, No Reserve]. Fine condition.
A VICTORIAN SNUFF BOX of rectangular form with a raised foliate border and cushion moulded sides, embossed with foliate scrolls, plain engine-turned base, the cover bearing the presentation inscription "Presented to T.J. Duncan by the Membership of the Poole Harmonic Society 1848", with gilt interior, by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham, probably 1837, 2.75" long x 1.75" wide (c.2.8oz). See illustration
