Morago - An emerald and diamond set cocktail watch, late 20th century, the signed silvered dial, 13mm diameter, with black batons and hands, liveried but unnumbered 17 jewel mechanical crown wind movement by Adolph Schild calibre VJ977-2, case, 17mm diameter with an additional 2 tier bezel covering the crown, 27mm diameter, containing an inner ring of sixteen claw set round facetted emeralds totalling approximately 0.80ct and an outer ring of thirty two claw set round brilliant cut diamonds totalling approximately 1.00ct, verso snap on, brushed finish, stamped 14K 0.585, inner unmarked, to an integral brush finished tapering brick link bracelet terminating in a 2 stage fold over clasp stamped 585 together with Italian maker's mark, possibly that of Paolo Nalato, Belluno, overall length 180mm, 33.5g ex movement
Imperial German Bavarian M-1868 Officers Raupenhelm, leather bodied helmet with gilt metal two piece officers helmet plate to the centre, lion head side bosses with special pattern leather chinstrap. One side rosette cockade in the Bavarian national colours and crowned L cipher. Interior with officers pattern leather sweatband but no cloth lining. Missing the brush plume from the top. Slightly misshapen but could easily be restored. This item was brought home from Bavaria, Germany, by Harold Holdren Jr, from Pickaway County, Ohio. He served from 1944 with the 771st US Tank Battalion. During his service he was stationed mostly in various areas of Bavaria, until his return to the USA in August 1946. It was during his time in service that he acquired this and other souvenirs which are listed in this auction. Items have been consigned directly by the grandson of Harold Holdren Jr. A full write up of his military career will accompany this lot.

Motschmann type gesso covered papier mache head Oriental antique baby doll, 1850s, large inset brown glass eyes with black pupils, pierced nostrils, brush stroked hair, George Motschmann type composition, wood and cloth body, with floating joints, torso contains wood and paper bellows with bamboo whistle voice box, restored to a high standard, wearing whitework cotton and woollen multi-layered clothing, 20.5"52cm. A rag piece of fabric was attached to the inside of the doll's stomach, with Chinese writing which translates to "Golden Lotus Temple" - women prayed at the temple to conceive a baby. NB: There is included a full and extensive account of restoration undertaken in November 1996, along with some photographs of the damage before repair.

A pre war .177" New Model (slant grip) Webley Senior air pistol, number S9659, with brown Bakelite grips, the end plug secured by a grub screw GC, retaining much original finish (scear fails to engage); in its scarce original non lockable black leather cloth covered Webley carrying case with leather handle, containing original Webley oil can, green Webley pellet tin, bore cleaning brush, and carton of Parker Hale flannelette patches, the lid with gold lettered black Webley label. A FRENCH HEAVY CAVALRY TROOPER'S FULL DRESS HELMET. The steel skull embellished with brass fittings, a raised decorated crest with Medusa's head front, frontal plate with laurels and a fused grenade, plume holder and all round edge trimming. Original horse hair falling plume flowing backwards from the top of the crest, a short 'shaving-brush' frontal plume supported by a British Hussar officer's plume holder. Provision for a side plume. One circular side support and half only of the graduated chin scales. Original stout leather sweat band and lining. Both peaks leather lined, the lining to the back peak perished, otherwise good overall condition.

comprising a 19th century porcelain dish, with a character mark to the underside, some wear, 16cm diameter, three items if prunus design miniature items comprising two jars 6cm & 5.5cm high, and a small brush pot 10cm high, a heart shaped box and cover, with figures on the cover, the base with swag decoration, the underside with a four character mark, 10cm in length (5)Condition: The small dish with chips the rim, one slightly larger and discoloured, some minor firing imperfections and minor wear. The heart shaped box with some minor wear to the decoration. The two prunus vases appear in good condition, the brush pot with a hairline crack.

A small area of retouching to the central lower edge. There is more extensive retouching to the sky, it is unclear the reason for this as the work is generally in good order. It may be that there has been a little flaking and a restorer, rather than carefully colour match the losses, has applied large brush strokes. The sea and ships seem largely untouched.
