A 19th Century Chinese carved ivory tusk brush pot or vase ornately decorated with figures amongst buildings and trees, raised on an openwork circular foot, 13.25 cm high x 9 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS Yellowing to the ivory, some general wear, dirt and scuffs and some bluish marks to top rim, some sticky deposits where some sellotape has previously been stuck to side, and some sticky deposits to underside, but generally appears to be OK.

A FINELY CARVED CHINESE GAOSHAN STONE SEAL, with a boy and peach design, the imprint reading ‘The Pure Air Must Be Returned to the Brush as it Writes’ from a late Tang poem by Fang Gan, the side inscribed with a signature possibly by Wu Zi, 3.1in high; together with a small pair of Daoist carved horn seals, 1.8in & 1.6in high. (3)
A George V hallmarked silver mounted and purple guilloche enamel seven piece dressing table set, comprising hand mirror, length 25cm, hand brush, pair of coat brushes, comb (af), button hook and a shoe horn, Charles and Richard Comyns, London 1924, contained in leather suitcase with fitted interior (af), and with canvas cover, initialled UFM, 39 x 37 x 20cm, also a group of gloves including leather examples. CONDITION REPORT: Comb holder has major areas of loss to the enamel and with associated comb, also some losses to the enamel on the button hook which also has a detached handle, one of the coat brushes has losses to the enamel next to the edge. Mirror loose in frame. Some scratches throughout. The rest of the pieces appear to be in good condition. The fittings beneath the cover are intact but the silk compartments to the main part of the inside are distressed and the canvas cover with leather corners has traces of use commensurate with use, particularly rubbing to the corners and ripping around the handle aperture.
An Edwardian hallmarked silver mounted three piece dressing table set with engraved floral decoration, comprising a hand mirror, length 26cm, a hand brush and a coat brush, Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1906-1907, and an associated comb (af), London 1905 and a further white metal mounted hand mirror (unmarked) (5).
Belgian 1843 pattern Cuirassier’s Helmet. A good example with silvered skull, with brass line edging. To the front a large impressive Lion Head. To the left side a brass plume holder. To the crown, is a gilt metal comb, to each side floral leaf decoration. The front with a white metal flaming grenade device from the comb a flowing black horse hair plume, with a brass mount brush to the front. A pair of circular brass bosses support a set of brass chin scales. The interior retains original leather lining. The overall condition is good, with minor age wear.
French Cavalry Pattern Trooper’s Helmet. A good quality example the gilt skull, with silvered line edging. To the front a silvered helmet plate embossed with a flaming grenade device. To the left side a silvered plume holder and to the crown, is a silvered metal comb, to each side floral leaf decoration. The front is with a Medusa’s head looking forward, from the comb a black horse hair brush plume. A pair of lion head embossed circular bosses support a set of leather backed brass chin scales. The interior with leather lining. Overall GC Clean condition. A similar helmet can be seen in “Military Headdress” By Robert. H. Rankin. Page 70. illustration 117.
A 19th century mahogany and brass bound writing box, the hinged top section opening to reveal a red leather lined interior with compartments for the seven days of the week, opening to reveal a green leather pouch and ribbon straps. The writing box lower section with pen tray, two lidded compartments and two inkwells with purple velvet lined writing surface and with side drawer opening to reveal a compartmented interior containing a mirror and brush. The brass lock plate cast Tompson’s patent. Est £70-100
