Francis Bacon, Study of a Dog at Rest, oil on canvas, 14” x 12”. (See general note regarding lot 2042 above). Whereas lot 2043 shows the beginning of more detailed workings following on from an initial outline, this lot has progressed further with thick, white and pink brush strokes highlighting the body and tail. Reverse with shoe imprint indicating that the canvas was on the floor of the Studio at some time. Provenance: The Robertson Collection
