A Chinese rosewood (probably Huang Huali) bitong or brush pot, finely inlaid with mother of pearl and hardstones with a figure upon the back of an ass with attendant behind beneath a blossoming tree, mother of pearl character seal mark to base of brush pot and raised on a circular stand, height 16cm, diameter 14.5cm. *Provenance: Professor B. Lofts. CONDITION REPORT There is a tiny 2mm x 4mm chip to the base of the bitong, light surface scratches but none of the inlay appears to be missing. There is a small loss to the stand, approx 1.5cm x 3mm, spurning a small crack, otherwise in good condition.
A 19th century Chinese scholar's pen or brush rest of rectangular form, the top with two bands of three curved recesses centred with a painted landscape, with gilt heightened blue and white pierced border and turquoise glazed underside with iron red character marks, length 8cm. *Provenance: Professor B. Lofts. CONDITION REPORT 2.5cm long, some wear commensurate with age, gilding largely missing to top, otherwise in good condition with no chips or cracks.

Michael English, British 1941-2009 (Illustrator), a limited edition signed first print entitled "The Pack" no. 0/50, approx 85 x 50 cms. Note: Michael English (Illustrator) was best known for his poster designs in the 1960's in partnership with Nigel Weymouth and their design company Hapshash and the Coloured Coat. Later in his career, he moved away from psychedelic work and concentrated on his hyper realist work employing the air brush. In the mid to late 1970's to 1980's, he focussed more keenly on machine paintings which are highly detailed sections of 'planes, trains and trucks.'
