THREE SMALL CHINESE MONOCHROME ITEMS QING DYNASTY One a brown glazed brush washer decorated with a flowering prunus tree, signed Wang Bing Rong zao, another a hexagonal-section incense stick holder with dragons, the body coated in a mint green glaze, with a six character Wanli mark to the base, the third a blue glazed bitong decorated with a scene of houses in a mountainous rocky landscape, the base with a mark reading Shan Rong, 11cm max. Rare poured wax portrait shoulder head doll of an elderly lady pedlar doll, probably Pierotti, nineteenth century, the finely moulded elongated face with fixed blue glass eyes, painted slightly smiling mouth with laughter lines, inserted real hair eyebrows and inserted grey hair in bun to back, on a cloth body with wax lower arms and legs, wearing all original cream and blue two piece gown, underclothes, socks leather shoes and straw bonnet, holding a basket of wares including two gilt candle sticks, tiny shoes, glass bottle, scrap book, blue bead necklace, fan, brush, cotton threads and more, together with a brown parasol, condition: right arm hand broken and in pieces but present, left arm loose and with piece missing from upper arm, lacks one shoe buckle, 22” (56cm) tall.
Pair of Kammer & Reinhardt/S&H bisque head dolls in case with layette, German circa 1910, each doll with weighted blue and brown glass eyes, open mouth with upper teeth and original wig, on five piece composition bodies with painted socks and shoes, the first wearing a pink silk dress, the other in blue, with sewn in pink and blue vests, petticoats, handkerchiefs, powder-puff, binoculars, brush, clock and sponge, dolls 8 ¼” (21cm) tall.

Later he lived in Chelsea, but also visited the continent on various occasions. He lived for a while in Paris.

A Pair of Satsuma Brush Pots,each of cylindrical form raised on three bracket feet, decorated in overglaze enamels and gilding with panels depicting a nobleman and attendant walking by a lake, the reverse with a domestic interior, all on a ground of floral and formal motifs, marked to the base Nambe....., height 15.5cms, Meiji Period; and a Satsuma Pottery Box and Cover of circular form raised on a short footrim, the cover with a compressed knop, the whole decorated with cranes amid pines in overglaze enamels and gilding, the side with diaper bands and floral sprigs. diameter 15.5cms, height 9cms, illegible mark to base with Shimazu mon, Meiji-Taisho period (3)
